The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is a prestigious All India Level Mandatory entrance examination for the admission into Post Graduation Courses / Programmes (M.E. /M.Tech) in the engineering disciplines and sciences and also for MS / MDes / M Phil / Ph.D / PGDlIT. eic., in IISC. IITs, NITs University Colleges and other premier engineering colleges.
GATE is conducted by the seven Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) and the Indian Institute of Science (lISc).

Department of Education, Ministry of Human Resodrces Development (MHRD). Government of India on second Sunday every year in the month of February to test mainly indepth knowledge in basic concepts and their applications of all the subjects in their opted disciplines.
IMPORTANT POINTS ABOUT GATE EXAMINATIONS
# GATE score is mandatory in some Engineering Colleges / Institutions even for admi sian of self-financing students into Post-Graduate Programmes.
# GATE serve as mandatory qualification for MHRD Scholarship / Assistantship.
# Bachelor's degree holders and those who are in the final / pre-final / AMlE with section-A completed are eligible to appear in GATE.
#GATE score will be valid for two years in Engineering / PG in Science and Maths / Pharmacy
# GATE qualified candidates in Engineering are also eligible for the award of Junior Research Fellowship in CSIR Laboratories.
# The candidates those who are admitted into PG courses with GA TE score, are eligible for the scholarship throughout their course of maxim um period of 24 months.
# GATE will be normally held on the second sunday in the month of February every year.
# GATE results will be announced on 15th of March every year
# GATE results for the qualified candidates are is+sued by the conducting IISc or IIT in the form of GATE Score Card. The score card qualified candidates will contain GATE score, percentile score, ALL India Rank and No. of candidates appeared in the GATE in that discipline of a particular year.
